Located only 29 miles from Interstate 91, Mount Snow is Vermont’s closest big mountain to Northeast metropolitan areas. Mount Snow is in the Green Mountain National Forest and operates under a special use permit from the U.S. Forest Service. The sprawling resort features five separate mountains with north, south and east facing slopes.
The Mountain consists of a variety of terrain, with 14% novice, 73% intermediate, and 13% expert. The majority of the advanced terrain is woods, covering 98 acres of the resort. One of the nice things about coming to Mount Snow is the lift lines. There are none! The resort can send 30,370 people up the lifts in the hour, so you can ski top to bottom and hop right back on the chair and do it again.
Mount Snow is poised to lead the East in freestyle terrain parks. Converting an entire mountain face into the Carinthia terrain park is a bold and exciting move, and it is indicative of the direction the ski industry is heading. This park, divided into 12 zones of varying ability, consists of 125 features, and two half pipes. Mount Snow has won praise from professional riders all over the country who travel over for a fun filled day of lapping the park. Transworld snowboarding even ranked Carinthia as their number one park last year.
Returning to Mount Snow for the second year, the National Dew Tour will make its last tour stop at the mountain this year. For those who don’t know, the Dew tour is a competitive circuit for professional skiers and snowboards. Don’t miss this event, as some of the sickest skiing of the year is sure to go down!
