Sugarbush, located in the scenic Mad River Valley, has been fueling fun for visitors since 1958. Every year on the anniversary of their grand opening, Sugarbush celebrates by selling lift tickets at the original opening price of $5.50
Sugarbush is unlike most other northern resorts and features two mountain, Mt. Ellen and Lincoln Peak, connected by a chairlift service. 45% of the resort terrain is covered by blue square trails, 35% black diamond or above, and 20% beginner, so there is good variety of trails to progress as a skier. This year, 7 new gladed trails are being introduced in 75 acres of new wooded terrain at both Mt. Ellen and Lincoln Peak. The expansion is part of a continuing effort to create new challenges and experiences for guests as well as removing the “fear factor” from wooded skiing and riding. Many of the resorts glade runs feature some of the more wide-open tree skiing available in the area. If your new to the lifelong addiction of ripping tree runs day after day, these woods are a great place to get some experience and learn.
For the skiers looking to really push themselves, the Bush has a nice selection of long and steep runs. Great when the snow is dumping, but they can get pretty slick when Mother Nature is slacking. One of the great features at Sugarbush is the “Lincoln Limo”, as it has come to be known, a 12 person Snowcat that transports guests up to the mid-mountain Allyn's Lodge for specialty dinners and full-moon skiing and snowshoeing. But the real fun comes on powder days when the first 12 people to show up at Guest Services by 6:45 a.m. (or who call the night before) get to own the mountain until the lifts spin. The Lincoln Limo also makes us the only resort in the East to have cat skiing. And when Mt. Ellen’s closes the last Sunday of March, our highest peak becomes the domain of the cat.
Here at Sugarbush they believe that life is truly better in the Mad River Valley. They are committed to making Sugarbush a better place, and they believe that guests can become better too at the things they love doing here.
